A de-dollarization breakthrough is on the horizon

Pepe Escobar, a well-known geopolitical analyst and journalist, has come out to hint that in the next few weeks there will be a major breakthrough on a new de-dollarization plan that has already been laid out. He said that he would be the first to tell this important story that could change the global financial landscape. However, things will transpire after a visit to China by Sergei Glazyev, the genuine brain behind a BRIC Common Currency, and after BRICS ministerial meeting in June. BRICS Summit, hosted by Russia, will take place in Kazan between October 22-24.
Nobody outside the inner circle of BRICS knows what the breakthrough in a new de-dollarization proposal would look like. But we already know that Glazyev is a strong proponent of a BRICS Common Currency, the creation of which represents an anti-thesis to the US dollar dominance and a pinnacle of a new world financial order of a BRICS or the developing countries. Glazyev and his team of experts have already drawn up a formula to create the BRICS Common Currency, which will be backed by a basket of currencies of the member countries, gold and other commodities.
Still, opinions among the BRICS nations appear to be divided over the rationale of a BRICS Common Currency, which could technically be too complicated to implement or which could take years to realize. India, in particular, has expressed its disagreement over a BRICS Common Currency, preferring to rely on the Rupee or other national currencies for the conduct of financial transactions among the member countries. BRICS is encouraging member countries to use national currencies as the first step toward de-dollarization.
What is most interesting about Glazyev’s proposal is that the BRICS or the developing countries should default on their dollar liabilities to start anew since the dollar is fiat money backed by no real physical assets. The issuer of the dollar is the Federal Reserve, which is a privately-owned institution rather than a government-controlled institution. Moreover, the US and its allies have violated international laws by freezing more than $300 billion of Russia’s foreign exchange reserves and planned to use the proceeds to rebuild Ukraine’s armies. If the BRICS or the developing countries join hands to default on their US dollar debts, it will bring about a collapse of the US and global financial system. From then on BRICS could rebuild a new global financial architecture that represents the interest of the developing countries.
WW 3 will certainly happen sooner rather than later if the BRICS plays out this trump card.
